Dr Jiang Yangqing - Curriculum

As an honorary professor and university teacher Dr Jiang is connected to the University of Chinese Medicine in Nanjing. Dr Jiang has been practising in the Netherlands from 1992 and his practice is one of the most succesful ones among the thousands of practices for Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture in Europe.


Dr Jiang receives the certficate appointing him as a professor and lecturer from the head of the institute where he had his training, the University of Chinese Medicine in Nanjing.

Studies
Dr Jiang was born in Jiangsu in China in 1944. From 1963 to 1969 he studied medicine at the University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Nanjing. After his graduation he worked in a clinic in a small hospital in a poor rural district in the province of Jiangsu. As the district was not very prosperous and life conditions were poor, there were many patients with severe health problems. As a result Dr Jiang was able to treat various kinds of complex diseases. Dr Jiang managed to use his knowledge of both the Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Western medicine for diagnosis and treatment. In the small local hospital he was responsible for both the Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Western Medicine, gaining extensive practical experience.
After the cultural revolution the University of Nanjing started to employ the first group of postgraduate students in 1979. From over 400 candidates for the entrance exam he was first and he was admitted as a postgraduate student in traditional Chinese internal medicine. He had three years of clinical training by professor Zesheng and professor Xu Jinfan, who are famous in China. After his promotion he was admitted to the academic hospital of the university. In 1983 he registered at the University for Traditional Chinese Medicine of Peking and studied with the famous professor Dong Jianhua, member of the Academy for Technical Science China (the highest title of honour granted by the Chinese authorities). Three years later he was the first doctoral student in China to obtain a doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine (there had not been a university in Traditional Chinese Medicine before to promote a postgraduate student or to have academic medical training).

Career
In 1986 he was appointed in the university hospital of the University for Traditional Chinese Medicine in Peking to practise, to lecture and to do research. Dr Jiang was the busiest of all doctors in the hospital. Because of his name patients came from all over China. During this period he published over 50 scientific articles, half of which were published in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the most influential periodical in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Besides, he was editor of the monumental work "Study in the combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western medicine for internal medicine" (Zong Xi Yi Jie He Nei Ke Yan Jiu), with over 1.5 million Chinese characters.



Recognition
Currently Dr Jiang Yangqing has been appointed by his old school, the University of Nanjing, as an honorary professor and tutor of graduate students, which is the highest title ever conferred by the school. In 2001 he was appointed as a guest professor at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department in the medical faculty of the University of Paris XIII and chairman of the academy. In addition, he is vice chairman of International Traditional Chinese Medicine Association in Hongkong and he obtained the Chinese Redbud Medical Achievement Prize for a second year (Chinese doctors from all over the world, applying Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine, choose 10 candidates who win this prize)
